About Cromer
Cromer is known as the “Gem of the Norfolk Coast“. It is certainly is a very pretty seaside resort and is an ideal base for landscape photography. Local dressed crab is a famous delicacy. Cromer is also well known for the rise and setting of the sun over the sea.
The town has a pier with a small theatre and has the largest carnival in Norfolk that takes place in August each year. In the summer months the town often records some of the highest temperatures in the United Kingdom.

The cliff walk from Overstand to Cromer takes you past the golf course and the beautiful lighthouse.
Norfolk is renowned for being flat. However much of North Norfolk has undulating countryside and glacial features. The image above demonstrates this and you are advised to wear walking boots or suitable footwear when walking this path.
The cliffs are prone to crumbling so it as advisable to keep well clear from the edge.
The walk from Overstrand to the Cromer is one of my favourite local walks. You can walk along the undulating cliffs in one direction and return along the flat sandy beach. Even in summer, once you get past the car park entrances you will almost have this beautiful beach to yourself.
You will find all sorts of activities and events in Cromer in the summer months. Lots take place on or close to the pier.
Places also worth visiting are neighbouring Sheringham, the town of North Walsham with a centre that is great for shopping, historic Holt and the attractive market town of Aylsham.
