Acle Photographer

As an Acle photographer my services include head shots, portraits, family photo shoots, model portfolios and Norfolk landscapes sold as wall art.

About Acle

Acle is an attractive small market town located on the River Bure. This is an area of beautiful and important wetland countryside. Acle lies between Norwich and the popular holiday resort of Great Yarmouth. The name means a clearing in an oak forest.

The town has a good selection of shops, pubs, hotels and boatyards. Market day is on the second Saturday each month.

Boat by Acle bridge by David Woodcock - Acle Photographer

Built in 1997 the modern Acle bridge shown above is the only bridge crossing the River Bure between Wroxham village and Great Yarmouth. Below are some images of the River Bure from Acle Bridge.

The town is also an ideal base from where you can hire a boat. From here you can navigate the network of The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads. I love watching the reflections of the boats in the water on a sunny day.

The green in the centre is the site of the town sign.

The town green is also the site of the Jubilee Memorial (shown below), erected to commemorate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.

Each face of the memorial shows the distance between nearby places including Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

The memorial also commemorates Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee and the Acle bypass that opened in 1989.

If you are looking for a nice place to eat and drink I can highly recommend The Bridge Inn located by Acle Bridge shown below. This is a building with a thatched roof typical of the Broadland area. Reed and sedge grow in the Broads. Reed is thatch and sedge caps and seal the roof top.
